I’m always frustrated with Baby Girl. I can say something derogatory about her more easily than I can compliment her. When I tell her I love her, when I tell her she’s special… It hurts me. The back of my throat constricts, and I swallow hard. I choke out expressions of sentiment… Compliments… Praise.
But I can hiss, “crazy,” “spastic,” and “obnoxious” without a hitch in my voice.
I can do this trick with myself too. I can call myself an ugly, pig eyed, codependent, self destructive, annoying bitch. No problem.
On a scale between instagramers and big lick TWH trainers, how much bond to you have with your horse?
This should be an official scale. 10 being instagramers and 0 being big lick TWH trainers. It just needs a name.
Rode Kitty and Baby Girl today!
My students both canceled for today, so I got a lot of free time. I showed up at the barn anyway and decided to crash Amy’s party. She was teaching two 10-year-old girls. I asked if I could get Kitty and join in. Amy was like,
But that kids were all,
Kitty was fun. We did a little ground work. Her ground work needs some work — she’s respectful and well mannered, but needs desensitizing and work on the finer aspects of moving feet. Afterwards I hopped on her bareback/in a halter and jumped some cross rails.
The kids followed me. I would jump, and they would pop over the fence after me like a line of little circus ponies. Kitty actually did really well. I mean, we were cantering cross rails. Things must be getting serious. :P
I got BG up after that. Courtney and I went out on the trail for two hours. Nice walk/trot. It was fun — just a little pleasure ride to stretch the legs. I may do one more faster conditioning ride with BG before the Region Five Benefit CTR, but I’m definitely going to do some groundwork and arena “brain work.” And a week off before the competition.
Curious as to where people get off thinking that what colours you wear while riding define your skill level..?
The thing I find funny is that if you wear colored breeches that aren’t a brand name you’re a “bobo” but if you have ts breeches that are colored it’s totally okay.
Damn it’s good to be an endurance rider.
Color haters to the left.
Gonna go on a nice long ride with BG this afternoon. I rode her this morning at a fast trot and canter for around 45 minutes. We’ll do some slow work (walk/trot) in the “heat” (it’s almost 80F here) and call that our “hard day.”
